I still remember the day I was sent home because my school fees had not been paid. As the teacher called my name, my heart filled with sadness. I packed my books quietly while my classmates remained in class. Walking out of the school gate was one of the most painful moments of my life.
When I arrived home, my parents were worried. They wanted me to continue with my education, but they did not have enough money to pay the fees. Every morning, I watched other children wearing their uniforms and going to school while I stayed behind. I felt left out and wondered when I would return to class.
A few days turned into weeks, and soon I had stayed at home for one month. I missed many lessons, class activities, and time with my friends. Sometimes I felt discouraged, but I refused to give up on my dream of getting an education. I used the books I had at home to study and prayed that things would improve.
After one month, my parents finally managed to raise the school fees. I was happy to return to school, even though I had a lot of work to catch up on. My teachers encouraged me, and I worked hard until I was at the same level as my classmates.
That experience taught me that poverty can create many challenges, but it should never stop us from dreaming. It also taught me to appreciate every chance to learn and to work hard so that one day I can help other children who face the same struggles.
