For so long, I have been bothered by the state of things in my life, at work and in my country. Everywhere I turned, I just saw and heard things that grated on my nerves. I have wondered sometimes if I was born in the wrong place or maybe it was just the wrong time.
People are in despair everywhere and maybe this is what causes them to talk so loudly and aimlessly. Bosses pay minimum wage and expect you to put your head down and work harder. Be more thankful they say. I turn to a workmate and they say "be grateful that you at-least have a job."
The biggest liars and thieves are often in the biggest prayer rooms. They feel confident putting other people down, I guess its because God is on their side. We do not even have genuine beggars anymore, it has more or less become a hustle too. So even the charity you give is maybe encouraging even more thieves on the streets.
Rubbish everywhere and I mean that literally. Do people ever stop to wonder where that dirt will go once they drop it on a random corner somewhere? Am I the only one that sees all of this?
People say all these problems might go away with better leadership and maybe there is truth in that. But leadership begins from family level yet no one has time to talk with their family. Everyone is already exhausted from doing thankless work all day and they just want to look at a screen and go to sleep. Any screen will do usually and that is if they do not have a substance of choice to indulge in.
I see all this and want to tell everyone to just stop. Please take five minutes to breathe. Look around. We cannot keep living like this. Change starts with you and me. Eat better, sleep better, workout and encourage each other to live better. I have decided to be the change I want to see in people and you can too.
What have we become?
