Joel was a young man from a small village in Kakamega County. After finishing his studies in electrical and electronics, he struggled to find stable work. Most days, he helped his uncle in small farm activities and repaired radios in the village to earn a little money.
One morning, Joel received a call from a friend who had moved to Nairobi, Industrial Area. His friend told him that there was a short contract job in electrical installation at a small workshop near Enterprise Road.
With hope in his heart, Joel borrowed travel fare and boarded a bus to Nairobi. The journey was long, but he kept thinking about a better future.
When he arrived, life was not easy. He stayed in a small shared room in Eastlands, Umoja estate, waking up early every day to look for work. Some days he got small jobs, other days nothing.
One day, while working on a faulty wiring system in a small shop, Joel met a contractor who noticed his skill and honesty. The contractor offered him a better opportunity to assist in larger electrical projects around Nairobi.
Months passed, and Joel’s life slowly changed. He was able to support his family back in Kakamega and even started saving money to build his own small business.
He always remembered his journey:
“Success does not come fast, but it comes to those who keep trying.
